by brotherdan ini've been thinking alot over the past few days on what makes a christian a christian, and i'm coming to some different conclusions than i ever have.... the watchtower likes to use the term "true believers" or "true christians".
i'm at a loss here lately.

Being a true christian to me is being born again.
The wheat and the weeds will grow together until the harvest.

Jack Barr, immortal? More from the Watchtower of May 15, 2011
by dgp infirst and foremost, i would like to clarify that i am in no way making fun of jack barr.
he is dead and deserves respect.. .
that said, the organization he belonged to and led doesn't deserve any respect.

leolaia said,
"But it is not the same thing as resurrection, as there is no continuity of existence between the person who died and the person who is recreated from God's memory. It doesn't matter how brief the interval is if death is nonexistence, as the Society teaches"
This brief interval, "changed in the twinkling of an eye" when the anointed experience death surely means then that really JW's teach that nobody goes to heaven. There is a new entity created in heaven with the memories and personality of the deceased, which surely nullifies the ransom.

"The active force that animates all beings belongs to God and when someone dies, this force returns to God"
This active force that returned to God is just a force. Body that died is never brought back another body is made whether spiritual or fleshly and made to think it is the person that died. Almost a clone. As JW believe nothing lives on after death. Other than God remembers them they exist in his mind which sounds like it is Hades. At least that is how I understood it.

How were Rutherford's Cadillacs purchased?
by InterestedOne ini mentioned rutherford's cadillacs to my study conductor, and he said maybe rutherford was able to purchase them because he was independently wealthy.
were they purchased from his own personal wealth or with the wt funds?.

Djeggnog,
"You wanted to know about a dead man's wealth; he had none. He had gifts and if someone should give you a $10,000 ring or a $100,000 car, that wouldn't make you wealthy. You would just be the owner of a $10K ring and a $100K car."
Could you explain what you mean. If I own alot of things, money houses cars ect. Do you not consider me wealthy. Or do you first examine how I came to have these things? Are you saying gifts don't count, I don't think the tax man views it the same way do you?
"You wanted to know about a dead man's wealth"
You've mentioned this sort of thing before as if people should'nt discuss what happened because he's dead. Maybe I misread how you feel. But I think you've probably been in history lessons and discussed dead people and how they acted. Hitler, ect. Enlighten me.

Feb. 15th WT - WT Society says DFed Ones are Lawless- Just Like Demons
by flipper ini would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

"The brother invited her to think about the pain Jehovah must have experienced when some of his ANGELIC SONS rebelled."
I don't think these angelic sons had inherited sin.
I also think it is wrong to speculate on what God felt about something unless he tells you. Maybe I'm wrong but I dont think the bible tells you "about the pain he felt with regard to the angelic sons"
